What We Did: This last Saturday we were looking at several stores for kids' bedroom furniture, rugs and paint. We live in a brand new house that was not finished when we moved into it so we are looking to finish it now that we just sold our last house and we are free from under two mortgages.
Where We Went: So while we were out shopping, we went to an area that has several furniture stores in one location. That way we could see a wide selection without having to go to a lot of places.
What We Want: My husband and I know exactly what we want in colors and style; we are going with blue, brown and cream for paint and we want modern, contemporary style. We found the rug we want right away at a store which is close to the furniture stores.
The Rug Store: There was a girl who was helping us with rugs and she is good at what she does. She saw that I knew what I wanted and told us about their rug 'check out' system where we can take rugs home and try them out for size and color/pattern. We saw the prices and we got the information we needed, however we needed to do some measuring at home. We did not have room to take the rug(s) on check out right then since we had already bought a 5'x4' painting, lamps and some other items and our van would not hold a 9'x12' and 6' round rug (one for size and one for pattern, since they did not have the 6' round rug in the pattern we wanted).
The Next Day: I called the next day to get more information on the rug pattern we were interested in. This is where the condescending heaped and the woman said that 'we didn't really want that rug' to begin with. Ok then I guess I DON'T want your stupid rug!
The Conclusion: We found the exact same rug on overstock.com for $275.00 with $2.95 shipping and we are SO proud of ourselves. Stupid, condescending sales people have no idea how much money I have or where I might be willing to spend it. Now we love to tell people how we got such a good deal and never had to deal with that rug store again!
